Hello there,
I hope you had a great week.
The highlight of my week was the two IPL matches this week at Dharamshala.
The first one was between Kings 11 Punjab and Delhi Capitals. I was rooting on king 11 for this one. But DC won this one.
The second one between Kings 11 ans Rajasthan Royals. I was rooting for RR for this one because of my natural inclination. And RR won.
These matches were held at the very pristine location HPCA cricket stadium, which is also the home ground for Kings 11 Punjab.
HPCA stands for Himachal Pradesh Cricket association and this stadium was established in the year 2003.
The HPCA cricket stadium at Dharamshala is definitely a beauty to die for. The stadium attracts hundreds of visitors on a daily basis , but seeing the stadium in action was altogether a different ball game. The stadium has a capacity of around 23000. And almost all the seats were flooded.
It looks so majestic and beautiful especially because the location is such that it gives a glorious view of the Dhauladhars amongst which the ground is nestled like a small patch of grass.
The ground had been in maintenance for a couple of months and finally when I saw it after so many days , I was truly mesmerised. It definitely is one of the most beautiful ground in India. And more so because the weather is always so pleasant.
The cricket match made the city feel like a festivity and it definitely serves as a good source of economy for the locals.
Dharamshala is a beautiful town, it has my heart since the day I came to the city last year.
One of the reasons that the city is so beautiful is because of the picturesque view of the snow capped mountains that one is able to enjoy from every nook and corner where one stands in this town.
As regards the HPCA stadium, if you happen to visit Dharamshala, the best view of the stadium apart from the inside is from the running-ground, popularly known as the SAI ground, right opposite to it.
Even though it’s been a while since I was excited about cricket, watching a match live in the stadium is a very exciting experience. One can feel the collective energy of the people around. The fans waving the team flags, the cheering, the IPL theme tune, the sounds and dancing and ofcourse a glimpse of the players makes it a very fun combination of events.
I saw my first match when I was in delhi as a college student in 2013.
I still remember the experience was an amazing one and as students how my friends and I were struggling to get some tickets as a group. But we really enjoyed the match.
I immediately sent pictures of the stadium to all my friends who are cricket fans as a lucrative option for them to plan a holiday here.
I think if you are a cricket fan or otherwise, do put it on your bucket list to watch a match in this picturesque stadium in your life time. You will not regret it.
Have you visited Dharamshala yet ?
PS: This week I have picked up “Britt-Marie was here” by Fredrik Backman.
I have been to this stadium mam, Its just so beautiful and Dharamshala has my heart.
