Hello,
I hope you’re having a good week so far.
The most awaited 2-day weekend is here and I can’t keep calm.
This week’s highlight was the camp lungta at Lungta village. This village is popular for hiking and there are a few nice places of stay around this area.
Located at 7-8 km from Dharamshala this camp is a beautiful camping site near a water stream. The tents offer a splendid view of the lush green mountains (because of the rains) with the added joy of the sound of the flowing water.
There are around 15 beautiful tents with attached washrooms and hot water.
This is a no network area but the places are normally equipped with wifi.
The camp staff is very friendly and we were also greeted with 2 mountain dogs who accompanied us for a small trek that we went to. There were also a few mules that I passed off as horses for my daughter and a friendly house cat.
Saturday’s are musical night with live band playing, we missed that. We could hear the sound of music from another camping site near by that delighted us.
There is sufficient area around for the kids to play and for the adults to have a bonfire night.
The food is truly amazing , home cooked simple food yet yummy.
Even though the best time would be to visit post rains, still we had a good time.
The highlight of the place was a small walk towards a waterfall.
The walk is a leisure one with view of the Khad on one side, company of the mountain dogs and a friendly guide to tell you where the bichu butti is or where the edible variety of berry is.
The area is abundant with slate as it used to be popular for slate mining.
I collected a butterfly wing and a small slate plate as a memory from this trip. I was looking for some mushrooms on the way that are very commonly found in this weather but it started drizzling so I couldn’t focus on looking.
Since the walk is just a 45 mins short trek up and down it can be enjoyed with elders or with kids alike. At the end of the walk is a small waterfall.
The whole area is very scenic and definitely a good weekend getaway.
For anyone looking for an offbeat place to enjoy some quiet in the company of friends and family in the lap of nature, this is your perfect spot!
Most of my trips are quite impromptu and I am glad for this one especially for the experience.
Have a happy weekend.
